Photographer Michael Strickland’s large format film photography put simply – is breathtaking. Strickland works exclusively in film with an 8x10 large format camera, a 6x7 medium format camera, and a 6x17 panoramic camera. His dedication to film allows him to create images that are acutely detailed with resolution greater than any digital camera system. Strickland regularly captures the stunning open prairies in the Great Plains, but also dedicates time to focus on the light and landscape of the desert and Southwestern United States. Strickland cites photographers Christopher Burkett, Eliot Porter, and Charles Cramer, as well as painters Claude Monet, Albert Bierstadt, and Thomas Moran as artists who have influenced his practice.
