Jennifer Hudson

American
Practices in Kansas

Jennifer Hudson is a mother, teacher, and student. She is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts at Kansas State University, nine years after finishing her Bachelor of Science in Education at Emporia State University.  During those years, Jennifer worked as a high school art teacher in Shawnee Mission. Shaping young artists, watching their metaphorical “Light Bulb” moments, and having the privilege of sharing in their successes and failures has built a large part of who she is. While Jennifer is leaving behind the physical space of her classroom as she pursues her MFA, the qualities of a teacher are not left with behind with it. Instilling her love and passion for art in learners of all ages is one aspect of her life that she enjoys most. Recognized by her peers, Jennifer was named the Kansas Outstanding Secondary Art Educator of the year (2014-2015 academic year) by the Kansas Art Education Association. In her personal artwork, Jennifer explores representational female form and personal ideals of beauty.
